It has been a heck of a week. With so many companies announcing their upcoming gadgets, tech enthusiasts like me are just freaking out.
I thought it will be helpful if I could summarize the highlights of the CES 2012 in this post.Since there are so many developments to cover, I'll be covering 1 development per post.
1. Texas Instruments: I must admit that I am biased towards Texas Instruments as it was my first employer and I enjoyed my stint with TI to the core. The online blogging websites didn't cover TI during CES 2012 until today and I can't blame them. For some reason, TI is a company which doesn't make much noise. Contrast it with Nvidia which is making a lot of noise these days regarding their Tegra2/3 chipset. Having worked for both, I know where each company stands but hey, this is not the place to discuss these things.
It was exciting to see TI's Remi El-Ouazzane showcase the OMAP 5 development platform. Some of the features are:
The devices are expected to hit market towards the end of 2012. This is really going to spice up the battle with Qualcomm's Krait platform. It depends upon which company is able to Ramp to Production (RTP) and capture the market. As on today, it looks like Qualcomm will be the first followed by TI but this is a very unpredictable industry as we all know !!

- 2 ARM cortex A15s (target clock : 2 Ghz)
- 2 MB L2 cache
- PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU ( Dual GPU, Nenamark benchmark : 130 fps compared to ~30 fps on Galaxy Nexus)
- USB 3.0 support
